The Grove and Rawdon Theatre Company
The Grove and Rawdon Theatre Company was formed in January 2002, and is one of the most respected amateur societies in the area. The company is proud to have as its honorary patron the Leeds born and bred playwright and actress Kay Mellor.
Our next production commencing 13th May 2008 will be Jekyll & Hyde, a show that is based on Robert Louis Stevenson's story about a doctor whose experiments with human personality create an evil and murderous counterpart. Convinced the cure for his father's mental illness lies in the separation of Man's evil nature from his good, Dr. Henry Jekyll unwittingly unleashes his own dark side, wreaking havoc in the streets of late 19th-century London as the savage Edward Hyde. Jekyll & Hyde is pure, pulse-pounding theatre, with a lush, romantic score that has been already hailed as a modern classic. Murder and chaos lurks around every corner but love and virtue put up a strong fight in this absorbing piece of theatre. The main song 'This is the Moment', made famous by Michael Ball, is one of the many wonderful pieces in this show.
We have as usual put together a cast comprising some of the finest actors in the area, with performances by Simon Monte, Caroline Bright, Lisa Coleman, Richard Lloyd and Brian Luty.
'Jekyll' is a very challenging musical and we are pleased to be once again in the safe hands of our production team of Royston Bayfield and Cathy Sweet.
